Okay, so being a teenage girl, I can't help but notice how so many of my fellow chicas wear so much makeup. I mean girls just cake it on everyday like they would die if someone sees them without makeup on. Maybe I'm sort of old fashioned, but is this absolutely necessary? I mean, sure I wear it when I go out & a little for school (I throw on some eyeliner & mascara with some lip gloss), but its not so much that I look sick when I don't have it on. I'm sure that I wouldn't recognize half of the girls at my school without their makeup on. So my suggestion for all these girls out there is: You're beautiful without makeup on. Wear it, but don't overwear it. If you're friends tell you that you look sick when you're not wearing it, take it off. You're obviously wearing too much!

The BET Awards '08

So this year's BET Awards were almost as big as Rick Ross's gutt and by far the best BET Awards yet. D.L. Hughley kept me laughing, the perfomances kept me dancing, and there was a lot of drama...perfect for me to blog about. I definitely have to give props to Lil Wayne & Kanye West for congratulating each other so kindly. Well here are my hot & not lists for the night....

HOTT....
1. Neyo's perfomance with the jabbawockeez
2. Eric Benet's sexy outfit.
3. Keyshia Cole's Dress at the beginning of her performance
4. Rihanna's new hair color (although I'm still not use to her hairstyle)
5. Rocsi's dress
6. Terrance Howard & his fabulous guitar playing skills
7. The T-Pain performance
8. Anthony Hamilton's rendition of Al Green's song (Two Thumbs Up!!)

NOT...
1. Rick Ross's disgusting gut (cover it up please!!!)
2. The Fact that LL Cool J licked his lips 10 times within 30 seconds
3. Neffie (Keyshia Cole's sister) boob about to fall out her shirt
4. Keyshia Cole's performance
5. Jennifer Holiday's dress
6. Ashanti's dress
7. T-Pains ashy lips, grill (they've been out of style), and top hat
8. T-Boz's perfomance
9. Kanye West's acception speech...Kanye I LOVE YOU...but now I understand why a lot of people don't. You won the award. Quit whining about how radio stations wouldn't play your song. Obviously they did play your song because you just won the award. Now shutup & sit down.

& by far the highlight of the night goes to
...
drum roll please
...
Al Green's performance. I was really proud to see that my generation, including all of these rappers knew most of his songs.

Quincy Jones: 79 grammy nominations & 27 actual grammies IMPRESSIVE!! CONGRATS!!

I honestly was shocked by how few of the people I thought would win didn't win..
example: Soulja Boy

Was I the only one that noticed the jealousy of Rihanna when her man performed with Ciara?

& finally, my mystery question of the night...Who was that woman whispering into John Legend's ear?

Hmm..maybe we'll never know.

Nature is definitely made for observing, not photographing

So I always thought it would be cool to be a National Geographics Photographer. The pictures in that magazine are absolutely amazing!! So I decided that if I would ever get a chance to become a national geographics photographer, I had to practice in my backyard. First I took an excellent shot of a bicolored (is that a word) flower in my backyard. As you can see, it came out really great!! This photography thing wasn't that hard after all (so I thought). I wanted to take more pictures...so I layed down on my back to get a better shot at the flowers. But after becoming attacked by mosquitos, I came inside and promptly covered myself in Off spray. Then I headed back out for my 2nd attempt at becoming a national geographics photographer. There is a family of wrens that sleeps in the sill of my deck every night. They were scavenging in my backyard for some worms, so I figured, What the heck...I'd have my try @ getting some action shots. But as you can see I got some very crappy shots. Next, I moved on to a set of juncos. The 2nd picture is what I got. Haha. So after I failed to capture pictures, I decided that maybe I should let the national geographics photographers stick to their jobs. It was a lot harder than I thought.

About Me

So to start out, my name is Jackie. I think I'm a really down to earth person. I'm black and puerto rican. I think being a mixed race girl has really made me part of who I am. I've experienced racism and acceptance problems from both blacks and puerto ricans. It's not easy being mixed. People don't always acccept you for who you are. But I deffinitely don't let things like that get me down. My parents are from up north & i've grown up in the south...this is another thing that has deffinitely shaped my character. I get experience with all different types of culture...southern, nothern, black, puerto rican, whatever. It's really interesting. Well that's enough about me for the time being.

Welcome

There are trillions of people in this world. Blacks, whites, hispanics, asians etc. Some are actors, some are doctors, some are office workers, others are simply your average person. Then there's me. I sit here and think, where is my place in society? Have I done anything to stand out? What's unique about me? Where do I stand? Maybe this blog will help me find the answers to my questions. Or maybe not. Regardless of my hopes and dreams, I hope you enjoy my blog. Perhaps I'll inspire you =]
